Why do we need you ?
The Fleet Operations Lead supports the day-to-day operations of the Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) and Heavy-Duty Equipment (HDE) programs across North America.
Reporting to the Category Manager of Auto Fleet, Material Handling and Heavy-Duty Equipment, the Fleet Operations Lead is responsible for coordinating equipment acquisition, replacement planning, supplier communication, quote analysis, and ongoing operational support. Will serve as a key partner to business units and suppliers, helping ensure equipment decisions are cost-effective, timely, and aligned with operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the replacement strategy for material handling and heavy-duty equipment across North America.
· Coordinate with sites, business unit stakeholders, and suppliers to obtain quotes, review specifications, and support project timelines.
· Analyze bids and supplier proposals to ensure alignment with operational needs, pricing agreements, and total cost of ownership goals.
· Recommend equipment manufacturers and models based on operational requirements, cost, and performance.
· Support capital expenditure submissions, including lease-versus-buy analysis and related business justification.
· Track fleet performance data and provide reporting and analysis to support replacement decisions, right-sizing efforts, and budget control.
· Coordinate lease and maintenance contract execution with sites and business unit leadership.
· Partner with suppliers and sites on equipment returns, resale of owned assets, and related recommendations.
· Conduct site audits to assess equipment utilization and identify opportunities to optimize fleet size and composition.
· Manage the maintenance purchase request and purchase order process end to end, ensuring accuracy, control, and timely execution.
· Lead continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies, standardizing processes, and implementing data-driven operational enhancements.
Is this job for you ?
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
· Master's degree, MBA, or advanced education in Supply Chain or a related discipline preferred.
· Professional certifications such as NAFA, AFLA, or PMP are a plus
· Experience in fleet management, purchasing, or a related operational function.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and key performance indicators to support decision-making.
· Ability to evaluate equipment specifications and applications and make informed recommendations.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across functions.
· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
