Why do we need you ?
We are seeking a results-driven Technical Sales Engineer - Mining to drive business growth within Ghana's mining sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling Saint-Gobain's technical solutions to mining customers, identifying new business opportunities, and strengthening relationships with key mining operations, EPC contractors, and distributors.
This role requires a commercially astute professional with a strong technical background who can understand complex customer challenges and provide value-added solutions that improve operational performance, productivity, and sustainability. The Technical Sales Engineer will play a key role in growing market share, achieving sales targets, and positioning Saint-Gobain as the preferred partner within the mining industry.
The role can be based in Kumasi or Takoradi.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow Saint-Gobain's presence within the mining sector and achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across mining operations, engineering contractors, processing plants, and related industries.
- Promote and provide technical support for Saint-Gobain's mining product portfolio, ensuring solutions meet customers' operational and technical requirements.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and on-site trials to showcase product performance and value.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, including mine managers, maintenance teams, procurement departments, and engineering personnel.
- Manage strategic key accounts to maximize customer retention, increase share of wallet, and identify cross-selling opportunities across the Saint-Gobain portfolio.
- Work closely with internal technical, operations, and supply chain teams to deliver high levels of customer service and ensure timely product availability.
- Develop business cases and proposals, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage contracts in line with company objectives.
- Monitor competitor activity, industry developments, pricing trends, and emerging technologies within the mining sector to identify opportunities for growth.
- Analyze market trends and customer requirements to recommend new product introductions and support product development initiatives.
- Provide technical training and product education to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders to strengthen product knowledge and adoption.
- Participate in mining industry exhibitions, conferences, technical forums, and networking events to promote the Saint-Gobain brand and generate new business opportunities.
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding debt and effective credit management.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, customer activity records, and market intelligence using the company's CRM system.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards when visiting customer sites and conducting field activities.
Is this job for you ?
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A qualification in Sales, Marketing, or Business Management will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 5–7 years' experience in technical sales, business development, or key account management within the mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Proven experience selling technical or engineered products and solutions to mining operations, EPC contractors, or industrial customers.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, mineral processing, maintenance practices, and industrial applications.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and close new business opportunities while managing strategic customer relationships.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements, pricing, and long-term supply contracts.
- Thorough understanding of the Ghanaian mining industry and broader West African mining market.
- Knowledge of the mining value chain and relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze market trends and develop growth strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend value-added technical solutions.
- Self-motivated with excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively to customer sites across Ghana and, where required, within the West African region.
- Fluency in English is essential. French language proficiency will be an added advantage.
