Technical Sales Representative - Concrete

Why do we need you ?

The Technical Sales Representative (Concrete) will be responsible for driving sales growth, achieving budgeted revenue and volume targets, and maintaining profitable customer relationships within the allocated territory (inland region). The role will focus on implementing sales and marketing strategies, identifying new business opportunities, protecting market share, and delivering exceptional customer service to customers within the construction, ready-mix concrete and precast market segments.

Key responsibilities:

Sales and Business Development

  • Develop and manage the allocated sales territory and customer portfolio to achieve budgeted sales targets and growth expectations.
  • Implement approved sales strategies and business plans within the assigned region.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities and market segments.
  • Promote and sell the company's products and services to existing and prospective customers.
  • Manage and develop key customer accounts to ensure business growth and long-term retention.
  • Protect and maintain market share within the assigned territory and market segments.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular engagement and support.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers within the allocated territory.
  • Resolve customer complaints and coordinate product quality investigations with relevant departments.
  • Provide effective after-sales support and technical assistance where required.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery.

Pricing and Profitability Management

  • Ensure compliance with company pricing strategies and policies.
  • Achieve and maintain profitability targets.
  • Monitor customer pricing arrangements and market trends.
  • Support profitable growth of the territory.

Market Intelligence and Reporting

  • Gather and report competitor, market, customer, economic, and credit information.
  • Monitor changes within the marketplace and communicate opportunities or risks to management.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly and quarterly sales reports.
  • Provide reliable sales forecasts and volume projections.
  • Submit weekly call plans and customer visit reports within agreed timelines.

Operational Excellence

  • Participate in monthly stock-taking activities.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting to support inventory management and minimize working capital requirements.
  • Monitor customer credit status and ensure adherence to credit management procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage expenses within approved budget parameters.

Safety, Compliance and Governance

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Comply with all safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Safeguard company assets and confidential information.
  • Maintain ethical business practices and professional conduct at all times.

Stakeholder Engagement and Brand Representation

  • Participate in management meetings and team-building initiatives.
  • Represent the company professionally at industry events, networking functions, exhibitions, and technical seminars.
  • Promote a positive company image within the industry and marketplace.
  • Contribute to a customer-focused and collaborative organizational culture.

Is this job for you ?

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • Minimum 5 years' sales experience, preferably within the construction, concrete, cement, building materials, chemicals, or related industries
  • Understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
  • Knowledge of the construction, ready-mix, or precast concrete market would be advantageous
  • Understanding of territory and account management principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to prepare and deliver professional PowerPoint presentations
  • Sales forecasting and reporting capabilities
  • Fluent communication skills in English and Afrikaans
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the allocated territory
  • Customer centric and stakeholder-focused approach
