We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Finance Accountant who will be responsible for supporting the whole accounting function of Saint-Gobain Ghana, including general ledger, account receivables, accountant payables and all tax related matters and ensuring that the accounts are kept correctly and in line with local as well as IFRS accounting standards.
The role will oversee month-end closing as well as year-end closing processes for accounting, be a primary contact for external auditors ensuring that the company fulfils all legal, tax and reporting obligation in the country and within Saint-Gobain.
Key responsibilities:
Reporting
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Doctrine.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare management reports and financial performance analysis (business review).
- Support to prepare and analyze budget versus actual performance and explain key variances.
Accounts Payables
- Review supplier invoices for completeness and proper authorization.
- Ensure payments comply with company policies and delegated authorities.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve outstanding queries. Open PO reviews.
- Monitor payment due dates to optimize cash flow and maintain supplier relationships.
- Review employee expense claims for compliance.
- Ensure withholding tax deductions are correctly applied.
- Prepare accounts payable ageing reports and management analysis.
Accounts Receivables
- Ensure timely invoicing and accurate revenue recognition.
- Monitor debtor ageing and drive collection of overdue balances.
- Review doubtful debt provisions (ECL) in accordance with IFRS.
- Reconcile customer accounts, resolve unreconciled balances, investigate and resolve disputes.
Taxation
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of all statutory tax returns (VAT, NHIL, GETFund Levy, COVID levy where applicable, PAYE, WHT, Corporate Income Tax, etc.).
- Review tax computations and ensure accuracy before submission.
- Reconcile all tax-related general ledger accounts monthly.
- Review supplier and customer withholding tax compliance.
- Monitor tax compliance and changes in Ghanaian tax legislation and assess business impact.
Treasury (Bank and Insurance)
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Manage banking relationships and coordinate banking transactions.
- Review payment runs and authorize payments within delegated authority.
- Ensure adequate funding for operational requirements.
- Monitor foreign currency transactions and exchange rate exposures.
- Reconcile bank accounts on a timely basis.
Fixed Assets
- Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure its accuracy.
- Review capital expenditure requests and ensure proper capitalization.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation in accordance with IFRS.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of fixed assets.
- Account for asset additions, disposals, transfers, and impairments.
Wymagania
Minimum requirements:
- Degree in Finance, preferably BCom Accounting
- A Chartered Accountant or CIMA/ACCA qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience preferably a manufacturing/FMCG environment with proven exposure to taxation, projects and Forex
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including IFRS
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
- Experience in an ERP system environment, preferably SAP-B1
- Understanding of full business process including sales, inventory planning and procurement processes
- Strong analytical skills and advanced level in MS Excel
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
