Building Glass Quality Manager (W/M)

Why do we need you ?

Within the DTI, the purpose of th Building Glass Quality Manager is to Coordinate & Support all Glass Industry Plants (worldwide) to improve quality for Building Float, Laminated and Mirror glasses.

In this role, main responsibilities will be :

Product Quality Manager

  • As official CAR (Conformity Assessment Responsible) for CE marking of Building Float, laminated & mirror Laminated glass, being responsible to ensure that the plants conform to the applicable Product standard requirements, including CE marking audits and product conformity. validating the creation of new products articles and their CE declaration of performances.
  • Being the Convenor of TC129-WG1 (Glass in Building – basic glass) at CEN and TC160 WG1 at ISO standardization working groups and represent the interest of SG in both CEN & ISO committees, as well as Cekal Laminated glass committee.
  • In relation with marketing, R&D and assistance teams, defining specifications with customers and internal production specifications in float building, laminated & mirror glass. He/she participates to R&D projects & studies and validates specifications for new products prior to launch.
  • He/she supports all Glass Industry building float, laminated & mirror plants in their roadmap for quality improvement by collecting and sharing good practices and evolutions in quality controls. He/she establishes the standards for quality controls and performs internal quality audits.
  • He/she supports on request the Glass Industry plants in case of major claims, visiting customers and sites to determine responsibilities and to help minimize the consequences. He may be referee in case of disputes.
  • He/she supports to plants to analyse their quality issues with methodological tools, share good practices and eventually up-date the technical standards as output of lessons learned.
  • He/she defines and performs trainings in Quality topics for Glass industry (raw glass quality and transformation in Glass Technical Academy).

Quality related IT tools

  • Make the link between Business needs related to quality (data recording, traceability, qualification…) for the SGG IT systems (qualification softwares such as Antares for Float, WH management systems, SAP, webmethod…)
  • be the Business owner for the SGG Claim management tool: in relation with IT teams and according to business / plant’s needs, he/she contributed to evolutions of current tool (Qualiglass) or the implementation of the new tool (SAP QM : definition of functionalities & approval, support for plant’s implementation). He/she supports the plants in case of issues (in link with IT teams).

Is this job for you ?

Education

Engineer degree with minimum 10 years experiences in production and/or quality.

  • Knowledge /Technical competencies

Good Knowledge of float Glass, lamination and mirror products and production process, ideally experience in production in a Glass manufacturing plant.

Knowledge on glass processing (IGU manufacturing, tempering process, laminated glass cutting) is a plus

Good knowledge in Quality Management systems and standards. Quality system auditor certification is a plus.

Knowledge on WCM approach, on problem solving and risk analysis methods. Training and experience in FMEA approach is a plus.

Good Computer skills (excel, Microtrategy, phyton) as well as use of standard office tools are required

English (spoken / written) is a must.

  • Job requirements:
    • Dimensions:
      • In charge of global quality perimeter of Glass Industry for Building Float, Laminated & mirror products, representing about 1200M€ sales worldwide and a claim amount about 2,5M€ in average per year. Is solicited for major potential claims from 100k€ till a few M€ (potential loss of major customer sales).
      • Works in a multinational context with all Glass industry plants worldwide (EU, Asia, America).
      • Interactions with different departments in Glass Industry (Technical assistance, R&D, Marketing, Supplychain…)
      • Is recognized as expert in his field of competence, and acts as referee in case of disputes.
      • Represents interests of SG in Standardization committees (ISO & CEN)
      • Interactions with customers (Velux, Glassolutions,…) and with competitors (CEN / ISO / Cekal)
      • Coordinates and support several projects in parallel.
    • Travels / Mobility:
      • About 30-50% travelling in EU or Overseas. 
      • Part time home Office possible  (around 20%).
