Title: Process Engineer Co-Op

Region: CertainTeed – Gypsum (Silver Grove)

Hourly rate: $18.18 - $24.25 + housing allowance

Position Summary:

The Process Engineering Co-Op’s objective is to assist the plant to ensure that all gypsum wallboard and joint compound produced meets plant, customer, industry, and government requirements efficiently and effectively.  Work alongside the process engineer and quality to ensure best cost formulations are utilized to achieve products that fully meet specifications and customer requirements. Conduct and document lab bench trials of raw materials with support from the process/quality department to accomplish testing. Assist the process engineer with energy conservation measures; as well as monitor raw material variances.  Assist the process engineer in the implementation of the applicable standard practices. Actively assist with small capital projects with the creation of CAD drawings.

  1. Health, Safety & Environment
  • Active participation and support of plant safety and environmental/wildlife committees or improvement teams, as well as, conduct training.
  • Safe Production meeting Legal, Quality, and Environmental Requirements.
  • Assist with the completion of monthly 6 S Audit, as assigned
  • Maintain airflow and energy testing equipment in safe condition.

  • QA/Process Manager is satisfied that:
  • All available data is entered.
  • Data is organized and is easily accessible.
  • Data entered in the spreadsheet is useful for process analysis.

  • Writing is logical, concise, accurate, and in a scientific/technical style.
  • Data is presented clearly and logically.
  • Conclusions reflect the data and known theory and are stated clearly.
  • Anomalies are noted and discussed.
  1. Recommendations for improving performance
  • Procedure and cost estimate for reclaim processing, recompletions and facilities

Qualification Profile:

  • Engineering student with some understanding of tolerances/specifications
  • Understands data analysis and reporting
  • 1 or more years of experience in engineering studies.
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent professional degree.
