Essential

  • Several years’ experience of SQL/database design and data modelling to develop data solutions including Database design
  • Understand and communicate how data drives a business
  • In-depth understanding of BI technologies (Microsoft Power BI (highly desirable), Tableau etc)
  • Experience with data modelling in Synapse/Databricks or similar
  • A deep understanding of how to efficiently use data within BI technologies to ensure high performance
  • A deep understanding of how to optimize BI technologies at an enterprise level with a large user base and complex data sets
  • Designing, developing and maintaining existing metadata architectures
  • Assist in development of overall data platform architecture
  • Good Knowledge of SQL
  • Strong knowledge of the full data life cycle from source system to end user
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience in a complex organisation
  • Have the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with tight deadlines efficiently
  • Understanding of the principles of Data Governance and GDPR and the ability to incorporate them into designs.
  • Organizational skills including taking ownership of your work schedule and assist with planning and prioritisation of jobs aligning all requirements with objectives of a business
  • A Good understanding of project/program management principles including Agile approaches

Desirable

  • BA/BSc in a related field or related industry experience
  • Expert level Knowledge of DAX (Power BI)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Python, R Studio
  • Experience with the wider Microsoft Azure stack, or similar

PROFIL RECHERCHÉ

The BI Developer is responsible for the maintenance and development of our MI and BI Solutions from data source to end user interface, with the user interface being predominantly but not exclusively Power BI.  The role’s primary purpose is focused on the technical aspects of data flowing into Power BI – potentially via Synapse or Databricks - including integration and aggregation to enable us to convert our raw data from current sources into visual and insightful management information.

  • Be the point of contact for the business in answering technical questions and providing technical advice on our BI technologies from source/warehouse to end user
  • Utilise your experience to lead complex technical discussions and provide relevant guidance to the team to solve technical queries
  • Design and build scalable, reliable and supportable high-performance data-driven solutions
  • Lead processes on ingesting raw data from a variety of data sources, perform required transformations, apply aggregations and any other data modelling processes to allow data to flow into Synapse/Power BI in the most efficient way possible
  • Ensure Synapse/Power BI performance is optimized through data modelling, data flow reviews and constant performance monitoring
  • Assist the data engineers in creating appropriate flows from business requirements
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate data from systems across a complex organisation with multiple brands and multiple levels through in person meetings, calls and workshops
  • Collaborate closely with BI design to translate business requirements into data sets and data flows that ensure performance of Synapse/Power BI at an enterprise level of usage
  • Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner when received through project management software or direct from the team
  • Proactively search for data and performance issues and collaborate with the wider team to create solutions
  • Challenge current processes with your knowledge and experience. Ensure best practice is used across the team and the wider data team
