Technical Sales Representative

We are seeking a results-driven Technical Sales Representative to drive profitable sales growth, increase product specification, and enhance the market adoption of Saint-Gobain’s solutions and product offerings. The role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with consultants, contractors, developers, and key stakeholders, while providing technical expertise and specification support that contributes to a sustainable project pipeline and long-term business growth.

Key responsibilities:

Technical Support

  • Providing a support service for specification and project sales personnel regarding bespoke or highly complete technical situations
  • Accompanying the specification and project sales personnel to any consultant or contractor visits in support or major project specification and tender, including educational seminars etc.
  • Actively engage and upskill in-territory sales team members, applicators, specifiers and key industry players (architects, quantity surveyors, contractors, property developers , architectural and construction associations, government departments, customers)
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely management of complex drawing interpretations and substantiation for project specifications
  • Provide technical support to clients, assist with installations and troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the company’s products and services and be able to explain or demonstrate technical features and benefits
  • Identify root cause and resolve customer complaints
  • Collaborate with Saint-Gobain product and projects managers to identify opportunities for new products, new markets or other opportunities
  • Reporting and database management - provide weekly, monthly and other ad hoc reports and maintain database of project clients and pipeline deals

Sales and Prospecting

  • Generate SGCP sales revenue through mix improvement and range expansion focusing on projects and the projects value chain in the defined territory
  • Identify, research and qualify potential customers, understand their needs and develop sales proposals
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities and identify new needs and wants in the marketplace
  • Negotiation and contract closing: Negotiate prices, credit terms, contract details and close sales deals, close deals and secure projects contracts
  • Sales presentations and demonstrations: Communicate technical concepts effectively to customers, present sales pitches to prospective customers, make presentations at relevant trade and industry bodies conferences, events or other exhibitions, develop partnerships and collaboration with specialist distributors
  • Relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, collaborate with internal departments to service customer needs
  • Market research and market trend analysis
  • Sales reporting and customer database management
  • Record and manage all project and company activities within CRM daily to ensure regular and effective communication across all relevant functions
  • Responsible for the safety aspects within the area of own responsibility particularly around site safety
  • Drive and execute any other ad hoc projects as assigned by the business and management

Ce poste est-il fait pour vous ?

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or chemical engineering or any relevant built environment qualification
  • Sales qualification would be an added advantage
  • 3-5 years’ experience within technical sales or construction products environment
  • Practical and logical knowledge of construction products and building systems
  • Technical knowledge
  • General sales skills - ability to generate leads, make presentations and close deals
  • Project selling skills
  • Computer literate (MS Office, ERP systems)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Adaptability - ability to learn new products and technologies quickly and adapt to changing market conditions
  • Organisational skills - ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise responsibilities
  • Establish, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Valid driver’s license
