Mechanical Line Engineer

Why do we need you ?

  • To inspect all sections of the plant frequently and to assess demands that will be made on the Engineering department, to action plans accordingly.
  • To do fault finding on machines, and to improve plant efficiency by optimising the available equipment.
  • To identify improvements in the process that could be made by modifying or replacement of plant and to bring such information to the attention of management.
  • To identify and conduct such training on mechanical systems, standards and best practice.
  • Maintain a high standard of discipline and adherence to company procedures and required safety standards.
  • Ensure that both he/she obeys safety regulations and observe safety precautions as laid down in the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act (OSHA) + Regulations
  • Lead project teams to ensure World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects are completed timeously.
  • Ensuring contractor compliance to all SGCP standards and procedures.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient maintenance operation of Cape Town factory.
  • Ensure good maintenance standards to minimise down time and cost.
  • Recommend maintenance schedules for all equipment in the section and ensure that these schedules

Is this job for you ?

The ideal candidate must have completed a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. This role requires at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in engineering and maintenance in a manufacturing environment. It would be advantageous should the candidate possess a completed GCC. Must have experience with working with computerised maintenance management systems as well as managing high level project management of large CAPEX investments. Prior experience working on MS Office such as excel would be an advantage, SAP and PLC knowledge is a must. It would be ideal should the candidate have prior experience in PM Step 0: Prioritization of equipment, CMMS, Lubrication systems, Spare Parts Management, Asset Management, Breakdown Systems and Monitoring of KPI’s.

In this engineering role you will be responsible for managing the physical assets under his/her control with regards to running order, preservation and increasing plant efficiency. To supervise and plan running of daily tasks of the plant mechanical section.
