Position description

The Product Engineering Manager provides technical leadership and operational management for the product engineering group supporting the Crystals business. This encompasses direct supervision of the design engineering team and coordination and management of global engineering systems and support structures for the business including India and France. 

This role focuses on fast and accurate departmental response on requested quotes, designs and prototypes from customers as measured by design, quote and prototype lead-time metrics. Also, working with the commercial team and customers, to develop standardized design solutions across product lines and manage engineering new product process resulting in New Product Sales. The Product Engineering Manager works cross-functionally to reduce plant manufacturing scrap and rework issues related to product design and build through systematic implementation of robust product design principles with participation in MRB process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Nuclear Engineering is required and Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or Physics is preferred. Experience leading and developing technical staff is required and experience with an engineering team is a plus. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in design engineering in medical devices, security instruments, or industrial instruments is required.

Additional Requirements

The ideal candidate will have practical and technical knowledge in radiation detector operations and physics. Experience of New Product Introduction, managing design changes and upgrades through to production along with knowledge and experience of Design Failure Mode and Effect, Analysis (DFMEA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Lean Manufacturing techniques such as Six Sigma is preferred. Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD, mechanical and electrical design and experience working with Commercial and Operations teams.
