Position description

In this Automation and Facilities Project Manager role, the candidate will execute advanced, complex projects to improve processes, equipment, and automation opportunities in the manufacturing plant while managing a small engineering team.  Maintains, develops, and improves facilities and infrastructure, while insuring regulatory compliance for the PCR business.  Technically innovates for all aspects of the business as related to the facilities, production equipment, and operational layouts to better foster efficient manufacturing processes. The incumbent will work with general guidance from the Facilities and Manufacturing 4.0 Engineering Manager as well as the Plant Manager to set priorities and objectives within the framework of overall PCR business requirements.

 The main functions of the role include:

  • Engineering Team Management:  (20%)

    • Management, guidance, and development of mechanical and automation engineers within the department.

    • Establishes priorities and coordinates personnel during work on projects.

    • Provides technical direction to less experienced professionals within the business.

  • Automation & Manufacturing 4.0 (MFN 4.0) Projects:  (50%)

    • Will be responsible for the roll-out and development of MNF 4.0 within the local plant to include strategy and vision.

    • Designs solutions to improve efficiency via automation and Manufacturing 4.0 projects. 

    • Directs and supports the evaluation of new technologies.

    • Provides support to the continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant as needed.

  • Facilities Engineering:  (30%)

    • Develops, proposes, and manages capital projects related to equipment and process improvements as well as facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. 

    • Provides technical support of facility planning, design, construction and maintenance to achieve efficiency and cost objectives. 

    • Coordinates with contractors and ensures building safety and adherence to applicable building codes and related safety and environmental regulations.

  • Maintaining Budgets and Project Reports:  (5%) Tracks all capital spending for the business and provides financial reports to management as required.

  • Digital Champion: (5%)  Acts as digital transformation champion with focus on implementing new digital solutions throughout all business processes.



  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of study (Engineering) is required- Advanced Degree preferred
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience required
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Motion Control, Vision, Industrial Networking a plus
  • Prior CAD/electrical design experience preferred
  • Experience with Ignition a plus
  • Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Communication and persuasion skills are necessary.
  • Solid interpersonal skills are required.
