Position description

At Saint-Gobain in Latrobe, PA, we are looking for a Process Engineer II provides engineering and technical support to the operations department and works directly with R&D to transition new products and technology to Latrobe.  This position leads engineering projects, process and efficiency improvements, and continuous improvements.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • 35% Lead and complete manufacturing engineering programs related to layout, equipping and tooling, staff training, start-up, and support of production departments/lines.
  • 30% Lead all manufacturing engineering efforts within the process.  Identify, investigate, and recommend programs to reduce bottlenecks, increase throughput, improve quality, and decrease cost.  Draft proposals, report on progress, document completion, and perform follow-up audits.
  • 25% Drive plant development projects with a focus on technical manufacturing capabilities of the plant.  Focus on transitioning the projects to full operations expeditiously for revenue growth.  Innovative and creative ideas for new opportunities can be investigated and proposed for new development business.
  • 10% Assure all designs and processes meet safety expectations and work to improve ergonomics where possible.    

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, or Chemical Engineering Required
  • Demonstrated abilities in high precision ceramic manufacturing wtih 3 – 5 years experience Required
  • Demonstrated abilities in high precision ceramic manufacturing, with 4-8 years’ experience preferred
  • Extensive understanding of inorganic chemistry and ceramic science with an emphasis on process control and improvements.
  • Ability to solve problems and achieve goals with minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership, communications and organizational skills.
  • Excellent team player, with the ability to motivate a team and facilitate progress.  Good training skills.
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of statistical methods.
  • Dedication to continuous improvement concept.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation and process management using, implementing, and design of new automation systems.
