Position description

The Bristol, Rhode Island manufacturing facility is seeking a experienced CNC Machinist II

Shift Days/Hours:   Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm

Set Up and Operates CNC machines according to scheduled orders to produce optimum output of quality of machined parts.  To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.

  • Employee is required to Set-Up and Operate: CNC Lathe, CNC Mills, 5-Axis Mill, drills, band saw, hand tools, vacuums, slicers, micrometers, verniers and other inspection equipment
  • Dismantle jigs, tools, and special fixtures
  • Make tooling as necessary
  • Perform set-up for complex/advanced/non-routine jobs with little or no supervision
  • Handle raw material and hazardous waste safely and in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Assist in identification of potential aspects and impacts to the environment; participate in activities (such as recycling) to minimize adverse environmental impacts
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Work from written procedures and work routers
  • Follow instructions and procedures carefully
  • Record data, record and report problems as they arise
  • Successfully complete simple and medium skill jobs with minimal supervision
  • Perform set-up for simple and medium skill jobs. Record for operations on following shift any variations in the procedure.

  • Ability to use measuring equipment effectively such as micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to work effectively in a self-directed team setting and ability to solve problems
  • Use safe practices and comply with all company policies, procedures and health, safety and environmental regulations, as required
  • Conduct safety observations and EHS activities as required by our plant EHS program
  • Keep a clean work environment in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions on improvement opportunities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 12+ months’ experience in CNC Machining for Mills and Lathes, required
  • 6+ months’ experience with CNC Certification and Training, preferred
  • Ability to maintain drawing specifications by monitoring dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances
  • Read work orders to understand and meet customer specifications
  • Record data, record and report problems as they arise
  • Report defective material or equipment problems to lead or engineer, as directed
  • Perform complex troubleshooting with little or no supervision
  • Keep a clean work environment in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions on improvement opportunities
  • Follow instructions and procedures carefully
  • Contribute to the team by performing other duties as needed
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge of proper safety procedures
  • Effective verbal/written communications skills and organizational skills
  • Must have strong work ethic, attention to detail, good attendance, and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Work in a manner that complies with all site policies and procedures, actively demonstrate SG principles of conduct & action, and adhere to all EHS requirements

  • Vision - important if color distinction, visual inspection, measuring/assembling at distance close to eye is essential to job
  • Reading and Writing - Expressing or receiving detailed information by nonverbal means
  • Climb/Balance - important if the amount and kind of climbing or balancing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion
  • Bend/Stoop/Kneel/Crouch/Crawl -important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles
  • Standing/Walking:  Particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Finger/Grasp/Handle/Feel:  Working, primarily with fingers
  • Talk/Hear:  Expressing or receiving detailed information by means of the spoken word
  • Repetitive Motions:  Substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
