Position description

This position is responsible for the repair, maintenance and documenting performed work of manufacturing production machines, support equipment and site mechanical/electrical building systems.  In this role you will lead through hands-on maintenance performance and in addition, will train and coach the Focus Factory Manufacturing Technician’s performing maintenance activities and document work performed, focusing on safe work practices including LOTO, inspecting, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting and the timely performance of preventive maintenance of all mechanical equipment and electrical systems, including precision machine tooling, PLC’s, variable speed dives, control panel circuitry, high temperature ovens, facility power and HVAC systems.  In addition, coach and train operators on Autonomous Maintenance and document work performed.  In this role, you are expected to be the subject matter expert as it relates to the equipment in your assigned Focus Factory.

Responsibilities:

  • Observe and enforce all safety rules, working conditions and habits of employees
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) activities as well as coach and train the Focus Factory Manufacturing Technicians in the completion of PM activities, at least one per shift
  • Document usage of spare parts inventory relating to all production and facilities equipment; Monitor, maintain and purchase spare parts inventory of replacement components
  • Set high expectations for yourself, Maintenance Technicians and Focus Factory Manufacturing Technicians responding to operations troubleshooting requests via work orders, phone calls, paging and email communications
  • Ensure all work orders are closed and follow-up to improve reliability effectiveness
  • Ensure you perform together with Focus Factory Manufacturing Technician's at beginning of shifts to conduct Rounds focusing on safety-related issues; entering items into Gensuite system as needed
  • Work with Engineering to document PM’s for new equipment
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair of process and facility electrical equipment
  • Detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or operators; diagnose problems and repairs; increase efficiency of machines; bring equipment and environment within SG safety guidelines
  • Secure facility and equipment in case of emergency or crisis situations
  • Perform routine electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance and inspection of process and facility support equipment
  • Assist in the emergency troubleshooting and repair of process and facility equipment with plant personnel, contractors and vendors
  • Oversee contractor electrical upgrades and repairs, and maintain electrical code and OSHA compliance
  • Ensure exterior safety of the facility
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, in accordance with company 5S policy and guidelines

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Certificate in automation/maintenance program or Associates degree is required

Qualifications and Physical Demands:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Excellent communications skills, written & verbal
  • Operate stationary and handheld power tools, forklifts, man-lifts
  • Understand not only how equipment performs but also learn the process requirements of the production equipment
  • Handle multiple priorities, have strong math and software systems operations skills
  • Comprehend documentation in SolidWorks or AutoCAD, schematics and wiring diagrams as well as a thorough knowledge of circuit theory
  • Trouble shooting and lead root cause analysis
    • Electrical and mechanical issues to minimize the down time of production equipment
    • Resolve equipment operation problems with limited system descriptions
  • Strong organization skills and present problem statements and solutions logically
  • Apply the philosophy of “continuous improvement” and safety in all areas
  • Work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Push, pull and lift 25 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Stand, walk, bend, push and pull objects (weighing up to 40 lbs.) for 8-12 hours during your shift

Additional description

The 1st Shift schedule runs Monday-Friday from 6:30 am – 2:30 pm with a paid lunch period.  You will also participate in an on-call weekend rotation, ~every 4th weekend.
