Position description

This position is responsible for ensuring, with the Focus Factory team, that the assigned focus factory is operating safety, efficiently and focused on continuous improvement, as well as responsible for the automation, set-up, and maintenance of equipment for the Focus Factory product line.

The primary role is to perform routine set up and maintenance on various types of equipment dedicated to the processing of medical grade silicone and plastics while working closely with focus factory production manager, supervisors and management to achieve departmental and plant goals to meet objectives.  The objective of this position is to work with the team to maximize OEE (Overall equipment efficiency) through efficiency, scrap reduction and reliability while leading by example and striving for improvements through employee engagement.


  •  Set up of tools, dies and secondary equipment as required. Cleaning mold injection units, cold decks and set up area, press and tools. Communicate safety concerns as well as problems to supervisors and engineering and provide input to make jobs run efficiently.  Troubleshoot with operators to make jobs run at or above standards.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Quality and Applications engineering to assist with quality related issues, reduce scrap, improve documentation and data collection.  Contribute to product and process control, troubleshooting, disposition on rejects and corrective actions.
  • Documentation/Data Entry – QAD, Factivity, MQ1, Training updates, work orders, kronos and safety points.
  • Support our plants WCM initiatives by conducting shift meetings, WCM board maintenance, coaching and training, lead improvement teams, assist with setting departmental goals.  5S audits, general housekeeping, inventory or supplies, SMATs, etc.


  • Associate’s Degree in automation or technical field is preferred; High School Diploma or GED is required
  • >2 years manufacturing experience
    • Automation, set-up and/or maintenance experience in a molding manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with secondary equipment such as dosing systems, plastic driers, water temperature control units and other mold supporting equipment is preferred
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, factory automation, components and robotic systems; working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatic and electrical systems is preferred

Additional description

The 4th Shift schedule runs Friday Night and Saturday Night for 12 Hours from 10:45 pm – 11:15 am plus two 8 hour shifts during the week.

Physical Demands:

  1. Physical demands include walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling of objects, lifting and moving objects (weighing up to 40 lbs.)
  2. Standing for sustained periods of time
