Position description

The Quality Tech I supports Manufacturing and other Customer-related processes by performing a variety of inspection/test tasks involving raw materials, finished products and documentation, in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with company and customer requirements.   This also includes calibration of various linear gauges.  Documentation inspection includes reviewing documents related to receiving incoming purchased materials, manufacturing documentation, shipping documentation, and customer purchase orders and drawings.  This role requires an exceptional level of detail-orientation to ensure that all information given on the documents is correct including customer requirements, material specifications, product identification, etc.

  • Performs a variety of inspection/test tasks in support of Manufacturing and other Customer-related processes. Inspections/tests are performed in the areas of raw materials, finished products and documentation. 
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and quality specifications.
  • Uses handheld measuring instruments and other precision measurement/test equipment to perform inspections/evaluations.
  • Supports measurement device calibration system
  • Receives incoming items to the extent necessary for those items to be inspected.
  • Inputs inspection/test results into designated databases.
  • Scans and maintains records of material and process certificates.
  • Audits final packaged products and associated documents to ensure zero defects.
  • Maintains work space during, and after each scheduled shift in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Work in a manner that complies with all site policies and procedures, and actively demonstrates SG principles of conduct & action.



  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 year’s previous work experience in a Quality or Production role, performing inspections/testing and using measuring gauges.
  • Ability to use handheld gauges and other physical/mechanical measurement/test devices safely and appropriately.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of inspection/test techniques and familiarity with sampling plans.
  • Ability to calibrate various gauges. 
  • Demonstrates proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Ability to read, understand and clearly communicate customer requirements both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a face-paced environment
  • Basic computer proficiency in MS Word/Excel and good math skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, good attendance and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Prior knowledge of QAD MFG/Pro is preferred.
  • Must pass a vision test


  • Good vision to read written documentation, measuring instruments and physically inspect products (must have normal or corrected 20/20 vision).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
