The Aerospace Engineer - Structural Engineer located in Ravenna, Ohio will provide engineering expertise and project leadership for static and/or dynamic structural substantiation of composite aircraft structures, including finite element analysis (FEA), material property development, and failure criteria.
Essential functions include:
- Perform structural analysis, including FEA of new products to verify the design meets or exceeds all customer requirements and complies with FAA or other agency regulations. This includes communication and coordination of the analysis with the customer. This includes structural analysis to support internal development programs, non-conforming product, and repair of existing product.
- When required - support the Engineering Manager and Sr. Structural Engineer by coordinating within the department object status (scheduling, procurement, etc.) and status reporting to the business and management.
- Support customer meetings in PDR and CDR presentation to explain the performance aspects of the structural analysis.
- Evaluate and oversee additional analysis topics relevant to structural substantiation such as material and FEA validation, and full scale testing
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other Engineering field
- Master of Science or PhD in Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace Engineering or other Engineering field is preferred
- 1+ years' experience completing all testing and reporting on structural components
- 3+ years' experience working in Engineering in a highly regulated technical industry such as military, aerospace, nuclear or medical
- Use of analysis tools and software such as CFD, RF and bird strike analysis
- Ability to write complete stress substantiation reports
- Experience using Finite Element Software and analysis tools such as but not limited to: Hypermesh, Apex, Abaqus, Patrian, Nastran, and SimManager.
- Ability to develop, create, justify, and implement engineering projects
- Strong mechanical aptitude, in addition to excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team based environment and to work collaboratively to solve problems
- Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience
- All other duties as assigned by department head
