Position description


The Controls/Automation Engineer will work on controls and automation projects to install new and upgrade existing systems in all manufacturing facilities. He/she will provide on-site support for controls and automation activities at the Manufacturing Facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop/Install/Commission Plant Controls & Automation Systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, MES Data Collection and IIOT networks. Design and execute retrofit projects involving AC drives, servo drives, HMI and PLC modifications in accordance with Corporate modernization plan. Support Rebuild projects which requires extended time away
  • Direct third-party controls engineering partners
  • Develop/Enforce Process Controls Standards, Design/Specify Plant Controls System architectures, including Control Panels, hardware, communication protocols, and industrial networks in collaboration with IT network professionals
  • Support process engineers in process optimization tasks and support SCADA automation systems for (5) manufacturing plants



  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required (Electrical Engineering is preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years working within a Controls & Automation Engineering role in continuous process manufacturing plants, or similar
  • Programming of Allen Bradley PLCs is required
  • HMI Development is required, preferably within Ignition or Wonderware platforms.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking is required (Ethernet, TCP/IP, Modbus, ModbusTCP, IOLink, DH+, HART)
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming Principles is required (Add-On Instructions and User Defined Tags)
  • Familiarity with Design/Specification of Process Control Panels is required
  • Familiarity with standard instrumentation is required (flowmeters, pressure transmitters, temperature measurements, prox and limit switches, level sensors, encoders, linear and I/P transducers)
  • Ability to utilize AutoCad drafting tools to create and modify drawings is required
  • Experience with low voltage electrical distribution and Motor Control Center (MCC)
  • Good experience with motor controls equipment (VFD, Soft Start, Electronic Overload)
