Position description

The Quality Engineer will work with Manufacturing, R&D, Central Engineering, Product Management and other critical functional areas on key business projects with a specific focus on product quality through process engineering activities and tools. 

  • Analyze quality data using Minitab Statistical software, create run charts and monitor process trends and capability
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis studies like Gage R&R, Flow charts, DOE.
  • Manage Lab supplies – order all the supplies (track inventory, create requisitions, send Purchase Orders to suppliers, receive Purchase Orders in SAP system once order is received)
  • Send Lab and floor equipment for calibration and repairs – contact Suppliers and arrange for them to be onsite for calibration, repairs. Send equipment out- complete Material Transfer Requests
  • Assist troubleshoot quality measurement equipment (viscometer, thermal machines, weigh scales) issues
  • Create work orders in SAP software for Maintenance support to inspect equipment, review/troubleshoot equipment
  • Create Requisitions in SAP system for all equipment calibrations /repairs, send PO’s to suppliers and receive purchase orders in SAP
  • Manage Return Material Disposition Request (RMDR) process- Create RMDR, notify purchasing and provide support as needed.
  • Support with daily, weekly and monthly Quality reports
  • Review daily BI, MBI, ISSP Production Quality reports and report key parameter quality concerns
  • Create/update work instructions, one point lessons and posters for the inspectors on the floor.
  • Assist in training of Inspector/Packer and other product inspectors on the floor
  • Collaborate with MIC and other plants for new product development, trials, sample shipments and sample testing
  • Review quality measurement methods/procedures and standardize across all shifts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 6+ years Manufacturing industry experience
  • 6+ years Quality Engineering experience in a fast pace manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Business (Quality and Environment) Management Systems preferred: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949
  • Six sigma DMAIC and Lean manufacturing experience.  
  • ISO internal auditor certification a plus.
  • Strong PC skills with experience using MS Office and Statistical software.
  • Team Player with ability to function efficiently in a multi-tasking fast pace environment.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to prioritize workflow daily.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter and able to learn and work independently.
