Position description

The Shift Expeditor is responsible in providing leadership and flexibility on the shift for the support functions of supply chain, quality and the digital dashboard reconciliation process.  The Shift Expeditor will serve as the primary back to the Production Shift Lead.  Duties will include; shift safety, modification to the shift schedule as needed, troubleshooting/coordinating all shift issues (with the understanding of when to escilate to functional leaders). The Shift Expeditor will be a digital dashboard super user and will be responsible for providing support, training and reconciling discrepancies in production reporting  and warehousing during the shift.  The Shift Expeditor must be customer focused, computer literate, and be able to multi task throughout the shift.

Position is a rotating shift (day/night) every two weeks.  Schedule is a 2-3-2 work schedule with 12 hour shifts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

EHS

  • Demonstrates active preventive engagement in EHS through preforming STOP Observations and safety/environmental reporting
  • Ensures safe work environment in the plant
  • Identify, eliminate, and/or communicate any unsafe conditions by writing CARs and PARs
  • Complying to all PPE requirements
  • Complying with all CertainTeed Siding and EHS policies / standards
  • Will support and mentor another employee in a manner that promotes safety and complies with OSHA and other company standards
  • Participates in cross functional risk assessments

Supply Chain, Quality and Production

  • With shift lead and operations supervisor, translates the production schedule into a shift plan and identifies required assistance for quality and material handling for the shift
  • In the absence of the Shift Lead, position serves as primary back-up.
  • Facilitates and executes the timely and accurate delivery of materials to the production lines
  • Completes cycle counts of finished goods, raw materials or stockroom as needed
  • Coordinates the timely trouble shooting of warehouse and RF systems
  • Is trained to be the back up quality inspector as needed.  Trained to run X-rite, QC Calc, and Nitrogen Analyzer
  • Audit and ensure accuracy of digitial dashboard throughout the shift
  • Provides break coverage for Production, Supply Chain and Quality as needed
  • Assist in box erection as needed and printing labels
  • Livelink – basic user
  • Assists production in grinding when needed
  • Assists with month end cycle counting for raw materials and stockroom
  • Can safely, accurately and efficiently unload rail cars, bulk trucks and assist with LTL, UPS, and equipment deliveries

WCM and Continuous Improvement

  • Pilot/project team member or co-leader
  • Is a WCM machine board auditor
  • Is proactive in recommending and implementing solutions and corrective actions

Training

  • Drafts training materials
  • Conducts small group or 1:1 training
  • Participates in cross-functional assessment teams
  • Updates materials with practical and relevant changes

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Up to  5 years of general manufacturing, warehouse or equivalent experience
  • Forklift certification or past experience preferred
  • Works well independently and proactively
  • Comfortable coaching front line in a developmental manner
  • Must be able to shift priorities easily throughout the day (flexible)
  • Must be able to handle stress that is involved in meeting deadlines
  • Team player
  • Planning shift workload (time management)
  • Good initiative, self-motivated to move from task to task (multi tasking)
  • Intermediate analytical, project management and organization skills
