Position description

The Plant Superintendent is responsible for the daily operation performance of the Hot and Cold End manufacturing processes by effectively planning, directing and coordinating all of its components. The incumbent must have strong leadership skills and be able to coach, drive accountability, and provide support to his/her direct reports.  The incumbent will strive to maintain a positive and productive labor management relationship in a unionized work environment. 



  • Provide direction and goal setting/follow-up to the Hot and Cold End management teams to ensure operational goals are met or exceeded as well as achieving both short term and long term business objectives.
  • Manage operations and processes of the Hot and Cold Ends in the safest manner to assure attainment of production schedules while ensuring product quality standards are met that will meet or exceed customers’ expectations.
  • Ensure compliance to all the highest standards related to safety, health, environmental, Company, federal and state regulations and laws
  • Performe departments bdget and minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, raw materials, and capital.  Initiate and execute cost reduction programs while maintaining or increasing operating efficiencies
  • Provides direction and support for continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as World Class Manufacturing, 5S and other process improvement techniques
  • Provide professional development of direct reports and ensure they make Human Resource Development a priority with their reports


  • Requires a 4 year degree in any field of engineering or manufacturing that provides a thorough knowledge of the skills utilized in manufacturing activities. (Advance degree is a plus)
  • Must have a minimum of 7 - 10 years of progressive plant management experience   
  • Requires strong analytical problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop effective working relationships
  • Experience in Fiberglass/glass and/or building materials manufacturing a plus.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
