The Role

The WCM Process Improvement Manager oversees adherence to the company’s Principles of Conduct and Action expectations while supporting all plant pillar initiatives. Manage all improvement activities working to improve overall plant operations, reduce material usage, reduce process variation and losses, improve employee competency, and work to reduce all forms of waste using WCM and 6-sigma methodology and tools. Energize others through teamwork and collaboration, challenge the status quo, and seek out new and innovative solutions to reduce and eliminate waste while improving operational metrics.

  • Manage and direct the Continuous Improvement Salary/Hourly teams.
  • Administration & leadership of the WCM 5S program and conduct Kaizen for areas needing extra support.
  • Manage facility training program, documentation of all training processes & manage all controlled documents. Ÿ Assist department leaders to improve hourly employee competencies within all job bid positions using documented methods; JSA(Job Safety Analysis), WI(work instructions), and ISO-9001 quality procedures
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions, One Point Lesson, training procedures, manuals, and training documentation as required.
  • Manage “Cost Deployment-Loss Identification” process for the entire facility and create/support teams, and Yellow Belt cost improvement teams that will work on improvement opportunities identified in the plant’s Loss deployment analysis data.
  • Analyze loss data and utilize the data to identify the top focused improvements opportunities.
  • Utilize data to identify and then develop solutions to cost savings initiatives throughout plant Ÿ Manage and oversee plant cost savings WCM tracker
  • Problem Solving leadership; Use plants RCA (Root Cause Analysis) process and have ability to solve more complex problems using 6-sigma methods. Ÿ MES administrator
  • Utilize system to identify raw material losses then develop solutions to improve.
  • Manage capital CAPEX projects that fall within area of responsibility.
  • Lead all plant strategic pillar objectives/initiatives as required.
  • Lead all process improvement changes, implementation of SMART technology and equipment changes using MOC (Management of Change).
  • Adhere to CertainTeed Health and Safety Rules.
  • Adhere to established risk guidelines for assessment standards and daily inspections, while enhancing in-service training by designating environmental risk managers as key contacts.
  • Ensure the reliability of production systems through cost-effective planning. Improve production uptime by preventing material shortages and outages.
  • Drive continuous improvement in productivity for both personnel and machinery while reducing non-value-added activities.
  • Support the quality department in ISO-9001 compliance and process control to minimize non-quality costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Enhance the social climate and people development through with a WCM approach.
  • Ensure consistent process of business growth through new products, new equipment/technologies, and new market development. Develop and maintain the process for product output increase at high quality levels.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of products and processes to enhance customer service and profitability. Seek additional work when current assignments are complete and suggest improvements for product quality, processes, safety, and overall profitability.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be a team player. Collaborate constructively with others, adhere to company policies, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or Business Management, or similar discipline preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Any appropriate combination of academic and “lean manufacturing” work experience.
  • Willing to work in other areas as needed, adjust lunch and break times based on workflow, and work additional hours as required.
  • Ability to effectively cope with change, adapt to shifting priorities, and handle risk with confidence.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $87,500 to $135,500 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $98,000 to $151,760.
