Position description
What’s the job?
Support CertainTeed’s mission and goals by developing, promoting, facilitating, managing, and directing the Region’s quality and process improvement efforts. Thus, assisting the Group to create and exploit a sustainable competitive advantage through the implementation of world-class manufacturing and quality principles in all products and processes while striving for world class defect levels.
Identify linkages between product design, plant process capability, and product performance in order to minimize warranty liability and future product failures. Analyze data generated by warranty claims to alert the Business Leadership Team of potential challenges and opportunities.
Lead the development of a quality management organization for the designated RPG region. Position is responsible for plant QA/QC activities and customer claim management. The Regional Quality Manager will be responsible for assuring that all products and packaging meet the requirements under all applicable codes and regulations. The Regional Quality Manager will lead in the development and implementation of Quality Management Systems to assure our plants operate within acceptable process limits and that all issues are elevated to appropriate management levels and acted upon. Key business processes under the oversight of the Quality Manager include product testing/release, vendor qualification, change management.
This position requires up to 25% travel.
- Lead the quality function for the Glass Mat manufacturing facilities within in the designated region.
- Direct Plant Quality Managers located at the manufacturing facilities within the designated region.
- Lead the quality function for the home/base manufacturing site.
- Manufacturing Quality Systems
- Group Quality Improvement Systems
- Product Specifications and Standards - Including new product development
- Manufacturing Quality Performance Assessment
- Short Term claims analysis and processing.
- Group Quality Steering Council
- Interface with Suppliers on Quality Related Issues
- Maintain Group Quality Certification Processes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
What do you bring?
- Bachelor’s degree required in either: Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business
- 5 – 10 years’ progressive experience in quality engineering, production operations, or engineering.
Supplemental training in:
- Advanced quality technologies and implementation
- Six Sigma Problem Solving Methodology
- Experimental Design of Experiments
- Project management
- Statistical Process Control
This position is a synergistic balance of total quality leadership, quality assurance systems, and customer advocate responsibilities which require broad functionality and agility.
