The IG Process Engineer is responsible for the equipment, procedures, and key process indicators of the Insulated Glass Fabrication process block within the production environment. This process block assembles insulated glass units, including an electrochromic glass laminate, spacer, and cover lite. The process block uses several technologies, including automated and semi-automated equipment, soldering and electrical components, and sealing.

The IG Process Engineer will interface with Production, Quality, Process Development, Continuous Improvement, and Maintenance teams, as well as be the primary interface with external vendors in order to sustain and improve the production area. They will be measured against production goals, and be responsible for the health of the process block. They will also be responsible for coordinating and defining maintenance and PM activities. They will have working knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems. This engineer will work with another IG Process Engineer in the area.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Addressing immediate issues on the production line that result from deviation from the process, potentially including hands-on equipment work.
  • Developing and maintaining the process through project improvements and coordination of maintenance or other resources.
  • Setting up and using reporting structure to communicate metrics and progress.
  • Prioritizing project activities and resources to complete project improvements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in a technical field of study (Engineering, Mechatronics, STEM, etc) required
  • 3+ years experience in production environment including equipment and process implementation preferred
  • 3+ years experience in high tech manufacturing (glass, semiconductor, PV, automotive) preferred
  • Experience using and maintaining automatic equipment and glass handling equipment, including PLC-controlled machinery.
  • Working knowledge of IGU construction, assembly, and properties
  • Good communication skills in both written and oral communication

  • Detail oriented and organized

  • Ability to understand, breakdown and analyze complex technical problems

  • Good data analytics skills, use and application of statistical analysis software
