Position description

The Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to make an impact in an Engineering department at the center of a complex composites manufacturing site. This role will assist in a variety of projects, and will have exposure to the core engineering processes of the business, including the product development process, manufacturing planning and troubleshooting, part qualification, and continuous improvement activities. The role will also include exposure to specialty manufacturing processes including injection and compression molding, the design and manufacturing of tooling, as well as complex turning, milling, and grinding operations.

Job responsibilities and duties include:

  • Support the development of manufacturing processes for new parts to comply with customer requirements for part qualification and production scenarios
  • Develop part router structures, bills of Materials, and related inputs in site ERP software
  • Issue manufacturing jobs and coordinate planning of part manufacturing operations
  • Support the development of internal drawings and process control documentation for all new/revised processes including work instructions
  • Support sustaining engineering tasks as assigned. Documentation development and creation
  • Support the production realization process for the transition of “Product Development” to “Set Process”

  • 1+ years' of previous internship experience in Engineering is preferred
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and demanding timelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Understanding of ethics, compliance, and business conduct
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of conventional manufacturing processes (milling, turning, etc.)
  • Solidworks experience preferred
  • Junior/Senior status preferred, currently enrolled in college/university courses
