Position description

Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking for a driven, talented, and energetic entry level researcher to join Process Technology team to perform engineering analysis and provide technical solutions to aid the development and improvement of Saint-Gobain products. The Process Technology team works closely with Saint Gobain’s various business units to solve problems, develop new products, and improve production processes. Under the direction of the group leader, the candidate will be expected to lead development projects, design and execute experiments, analyze results, and present the findings in both written and oral formats. The successful candidate will have the ability to work comfortably and flexibly in a diverse and fast moving environment.

Under the direction of the group leader, the candidate will work with other engineers and technicians on developing new products for various Saint-Gobain businesses improve current products and services offered by Saint-Gobain and provide technical support to manufacturing. Successful candidate is expected to operate development and plot scale polymer processing equipment such as injection molding and extrusion equipment various mixers and compounders to produce lab and pilot scale samples, analyze the experimental outcomes and support projects led by others.

In addition to designing experiments for the candidate’s primary projects, the candidate will be expected to conduct experiments to support projects led by others.

  • Utilize engineering background to develop new processing equipment/techniques and upgrade existing equipment.
  • Manages and documents projects effectively with supervision.
  • Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility. 
  • Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making.
  • Incumbent will be required to submit technical reports on project progress and results.


  • Knowledge of polymer processing methods, equipment and related technologies
  • Ability to work independently on several projects simultaneously
  • Project leadership including project management, team collaboration, and oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience with designing experiments and analyzing data using statistical techniques is required.
  • This individual will be expected to run their own experiments or guide technician run experiments to further technology understanding, develop product prototype, and support pilot scale processes and ensure correlation of lab and pilot processes into manufacturing processes.
  • Working in a matrix organization, the candidate must possess oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with people from a wide range of background including business, manufacturing, research, engineering, technicians, and operators.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, ProE and etc. is preferred.
  • Document accomplishments in clear and coherent technical reports and presentations.
  • Possess a mind set for the value of proper and safe handling of chemicals and the environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft office suite is required.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge in HSE.
  • Incumbent demonstrates ability to work with colleagues at various levels. 
  • Develop understanding of company policies and corporate structure.
  • Respectful communication and ability to collaborate in a team environment required.
  • Industrial experience in extrusion, injection molding or compounding is a plus.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or degree in polymer science or processing
