The Product Manager is the internal ‘expert’ for custom products and assemblies, creating and executing a strategy for continued profitable growth.  Through market knowledge, customer intimacy and internal capability awareness, the Product Manager will manage the portfolio throughout the product management lifecycle (innovation through end of life). The Product Manager is responsible defining pricing globally, establishing clear and relevant positioning statements that demonstrates a value to its customers, and to manage the creation of all sales tool and promotional content that is aligned with the strategy of the business.

Under the direction of the Marketing  Manager, the Product Manager is responsible for the support activities of product line growth and profitability.  This position has no direct reports and requires an individual who has proficient interpersonal skills to achieve results by cooperation.  The individual will need to interface with a wide range of individuals, internal and external, domestic and international.  Marketing duties relative to the product line include: Product line management (pricing, branding, and compilation of technical data, R&D support for new product development, product positioning, selection and implementation of tools to support sales activity) and Marketing Communication (trade shows, advertising, digital marketing and technical communications).


Essential Functions


Product Stewardship - The product manager will be responsible for applying consistent product management tools and methodologies for the BPS business unit:  Implementation of marketing analytics to assess current portfolio performance.  Monitoring of competitive offerings in the market place, including products, price levels and associated service offerings.  Coordination of the global pricing initiative for the affected product lines.  Additionally, the product manager may provide additional assistance on possible acquisitions or J/Vs.

New Product Development – Oversee and lead new product development of standard products for use in the biopharmaceutical processing industry, including market research to identify unmet needs and competitive solutions, coordination with both other BPS Marketing Personnel and R&D to align new product development with our core competencies.  Use of approved and accepted tools and methodologies (e.g. New Opportunity Blueprinting), and engagement with the appropriate functional groups (Quality, Regulatory, Validation, Global Procurement and Operations etc.) in the business to assure compliance with our internal procedures and policies.

in the market place.  In coordination with the BPS Marketing Communications (MARCOM) team, develop a consistent portfolio of product literature (i.e. Technical Data Sheets), product imagery, trade show support and web presence.  Additional responsibilities will include the participation in the prioritization of product validation testing and the creation of thought leadership collateral to promote our position in the marketplace.  The product manager will also support the sales team(s) through creation of support tools, customer visits, and acting as Subject Matter Expert for the assigned product lines.

Market Research - Conduct market research for assigned product line(s) in support of identification of both existing and new market sub-segments for BPS products.  This effort will include the identification of end-use applications, accompanying target customers by region, and the identification of the appropriate BPS products with a clear statement of product positioning and its value proposition.


  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Business field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years’ Marketing, Sales, or Technical experience required.
  • Knowledge of common Product Management practices, procedures and analytical methodologies required.
  • Experience with MS Office – Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word required.
  • B2B Product Management experience:  demonstrated knowledge and ability to oversee the product management responsibilities of a globally manufactured and sold product portfolio preferred
  • Experience in the Biopharmaceutical Industry, ideally with specific focus on Single-Use Technology preferred
