VIE - Industrial Hygienist

Position description

Regarding our strategy, we want to accelerate the growth of our chemicals management programs - specifically hazard profile updates and prioritization of risk assessments. The Industrial Hygienist VIE will be in charge of improve the quality of raw material inventory by identifying/eliminating high hazard materials and prioritizing exposure risk assessments.  This role will directly contribute to our health indicator which monitors the reduction of high risk exposures.   

Main responsibilities:

  • Secure and upload safety data sheets (SDS’s) into data management system (Safhear) for raw materials and perform QA/QC.
  • Achieve 50% of SDS’s
  • Establish hazard profiles for raw materials. Chemicals >90% of raw materials      
  • Identify raw materials that contain CMR’s, sensitizers, acute hazards, and SVHC’s and work with EHS Director on elimination projects
  • Visit US locations to verify exposure profiles and risk reduction efforts are adequately control
  • Capture key EHS and sustainability data from the raw material supply chain based on prioritized list.
  • Develop data acquisition tool in existing data management system to automate the capture of key EHS and sustainability data.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS and MS (preferred), or equivalent, in environment and safety field or engineering field Experience in ceramic or materials laboratory techniques and practices.
  • Experience with safety or health background in a plant environment will be a plus
  • Understanding of uncertainty and risk, plus ability to evaluate options and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team setting, accept critical input, and to provide support efforts of others.
  • Good communications skills, especially related to preparing technical reports and presentations.
