What’s the job?

This position will assist the Plant Human Resources Manager with services of a highly responsible and confidential nature in administration and delivery of a full spectrum of human resource programs and activities for the hourly and salaried employees at the Norwood Plant.  Under limited supervision, performs complex administrative duties following established procedures in the following areas: hourly payroll, reporting, file and records maintenance, recreational activities, hiring and onboarding.  Assist Plant Human Resources with additional support during annual open enrollment etc. Involves frequent contact, and a working knowledge of the policies and procedures, local, state and federal employment laws.  This position reports directly to the Plant Human Resources Manager.

  • Assist the Plant Human Resources Manager on various projects and activities.
  • Recruiting, new hire processing and tracking activity as outlined by SGC/CT policies and procedures. Coordinate and schedule new hire orientations with Safety, Quality, Training, 5S and Environmental Team Members along with presenting the HR/Benefits programs.
  • Maintains and updates Plant Human Resources databases – integral in the day-to-day tracking of employee data such as vacations, eyewear and safety wear programs, salaried Family Medical and STD leaves.
  • Assist and coordinates planning and organizing employee functions, such as: Employee Holiday events, Employee Appreciation events, Service Award Banquet, EHS Activities and Employee Family Day events, etc.
  • Initiates and tracks job bid postings, prepares resultant bid positioning in compliance with plant policies, communicates impending changes with HR team.
  • Manages confidential I-9 compliance files.
  • Administers and maintains confidential employee records, status spreadsheets and status changes tracking new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, ADA accommodations, etc. for generation of various reports

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

What do you bring?

  • Associates Degree in relevant field is required, as well as three (3) to five (5) years Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, as well as strong computer skills and have knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • PeopleSoft and Kronos knowledge is a plus.
