What’s the Job?
The Director of Strategy and Business Development identifies and analyzes new business opportunities to drive profitable growth for CertainTeed’s Siding Products Group in North America. This position will be charged with overseeing cross functional teams in definition and execution of project implementation plans for select new business development opportunities as defined by the VP/GM for Siding Products and/or CEO of CertainTeed.

The Director collaborates with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, New Product Development, Manufacturing and Logistics to assess new business opportunities in core businesses, category adjacencies, new channel development and market penetration, building business cases for investment and modeling potential return on investment.

  • Identifies, creates and manages breakthrough strategies for the Siding Products to achieve business objectives.
  • Analyzes, develops, screens and priorities potential acquisitions by partnering with Corporate Strategy and Business Development team to secure approvals and execute the transaction and subsequent integration plan.
  • Collaborates with functional leaders on the definition and execution of specific strategic initiatives tied to Business Unit strategic plans, leading cross functional teams in defining and implementing project plans to deliver targeted results.
  • Partners with business unit leadership on specific ad-hoc analyses to help guide decision making on a variety of strategic and operating issues/initiatives and to develop methodical tools for ongoing business support and plan execution.
  • Supports Market Research efforts for the Business and coordinates with 3rd Party resources to secure market, competitive, consumer, channel and product insights.
  • Development of new business development roadmap/target list and chairing the monthly Steering Committee.

Travel: Moderate, about 15-20%

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration is required, an MBA/Advanced degree in business management, analytics or strategic planning is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in business analytics, strategic planning, and business/operational management with previous Business Development experience preferred.
  • Commercial understanding/experience in B2B selling environment with direct exposure to Pricing and Program strategies deployed to drive profitable sales is required.
  • Merger & Acquisition experience is preferred.
  • Background in consumer durables, building materials or home improvement products industry is preferred.
