Position description

This position will be responsible for preparing financial analysis, identifying solutions and opportunities for Saint Gobain, North America (SGNA), and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure financial decisions are aligned with the business strategy for the North America Shared Services organization. The incumbent will be expected to influence business partners with fact based financial data and must demonstrate business acumen through insights and business knowledge.  The analysis performed by this role will support business decisions to improve business performance including business processes and technological solutions while ensuring the financial justification is adequately analyzed

  • Partner with Senior Leadership and their management teams to prepare financial analyses and models that assist in the evaluation of strategic business initiatives. Analysis may include: review business performance, and report results of analysis to management; cost-benefit analysis using the discounted cash flow method to quantify the impact on projected company results, cash flow generation and SG&A and cost center analysis; and the prioritization of investment spending. 

  • Supports business initiatives, projects, and operations by developing insights through analytics allowing leadership to advise decisions related to projects

  • Develop financial and non-financial measures of business performance for evaluation and control of projects and investments. Based on this analysis, recommend actions and keep management apprised of potential risk areas.

  • Partner closely with the business leaders to build and track all spend related to special projects to ensure that priority programs are appropriately funded.

  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reviews as required from time to time


  • Work with the functional area to perform deep analytics to create standard dashboards, scorecards, and root cause analysis to solve complex problems pertaining to shared services business processes.

  • Reconcile data and reports, resolve discrepancies and collaborate across various functions effectively.


  • Provide leadership support during the budget preparation process and analysis of business results, taking full ownership of understanding and validating the rationale for profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements; being able to explain variances to previously communicated forecasts.

  • Analyse budget data for reasonableness to ensure that reasonable financial performance targets are set, expenses controlled, and areas requiring action are brought to the attention of the Senior Leadership team.

  • Provide analysis and variance explanations for monthly reporting


  • Monitor, analyse and report out to other functions any changes to Internal Control Reference Framework.  Support annual internal control review.

  • Develop, revise, and recommend improvements to internal control procedures and process.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in financial analysis and accounting or related business experience.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented, strong motivation, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently. 

  • Proficient use of financial systems and analysis tools and analyze data.

  • Advanced Excel and Presentation skills required.  

  • Must have ability to interact and partner effectively at multiple levels of the organization.

  • Experience working with large ERP’s, SAP experience preferred
