We’re looking for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to maintain our equipment and improve reliability across our manufacturing facility, ideally you’ll have experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance responsible for ensuring tasks are completed within a safe, timely and cost effective manner.  

You’ll be working for Glassolutions in Canterbury. Glassolutions is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and are the UK’s leading provider of glass and glazing solutions to the architectural, construction, building maintenance, door and window and insurance repair sectors.

We operate a 2 shift working patterns: Early & Late shift, with one Saturday worked out of 4 weeks.

Is the Shift Maintenance Engineer role right for me?

For this role in particular we are looking for someone who has a background maintaining plant equipment with strong problem solving abilities as we continually strive to seek ways to reduce breakdown duration and frequency.  

  • Preferably apprenticeship and/or City & Guilds trained within an Engineering discipline
  • Proven experience working within an industrialised manufacturing environment focused on maintenance activity
  • Preferably Electrically biased with a good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical fitting, ELV control circuits, PLC knowledge is advantageous
  • 17th or 18th Ed electrical certified with a sound knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Respect for Health & Safety policies and regulations

 What will I be doing in the role?

The Shift Maintenance Engineer role is really important to our success, in this role you will;

  • Repair, improve, and maintain production plant and equipment in order to achieve optimum performance, while working safely at all times and in a timely manner.
  • Use problem solving tools to identify the root cause of failures, along with proposing appropriate corrective and sustaining actions.
  • Reduce equipment breakdown duration (mean time to repair), and reduce the frequency of breakdowns (mean time between failures).
  • Find innovative ways to overcome technical problems.
  • Conformance with all site EHS systems and procedures in relation to tasks being undertaken.
  • Maintain daily records of activities and follow all department procedures and systems.
