Are you a self-starter who goes the extra mile to meet your customers’ needs? Can you work well as part of a dedicated team? We have a fantastic opportunity for reliable and self-motivated Operatives to join our Gibbs & Dandy Glass team in Derby.

Gibbs & Dandy Glass are part of the Saint-Gobain group and a key distributor of stock and light processed glass within the UK. We offer a breadth of services, supplying and processing glass for a broad range of applications.

What impact will I have in this role?

As an Operative with G&D Glass, you will support the day-to-day running of the glass processing facility, maintaining our high standards of safety, quality and customer focus at all times.

Your key day-to-day duties will include:

  • Operating machinery and equipment safely and effectively within the branch.
  • Preparing loads for customer uplifts, assisting drivers to load/offload vehicles as necessary and ensure correct paperwork is used.
  • Maintaining a high standard of workplace housekeeping and carrying out daily checks on equipment and machinery that is being used.
  • Working in a controlled and safe manner in line with Health and Safety policies, wearing appropriate PPE at all times and immediately reporting defects/accidents/near misses.
  • Dealing with customers in a pleasant, helpful, efficient manner and by representing the company in a positive light at all times.

  • Prior experience within glass industry/relevant production environment.
  • Familiarity with safe operating procedures and able to work to high standards.
  • Trained in use of crane/FLT – license holder desirable.
  • Able to work well in a team environment to deadlines and productivity goals.
  • Health & Safety or First Aid training – desirable.
