This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Process Design Engineer to join our passionate and knowledgeable Gypsum Manufacturing Technology team, based at our Technical Centre in East Leake, Leicestershire. You will be responsible for the professional delivery of new projects and major rebuilds, operational and acquisition support and as the design authority, ensure continuous improvement of plant designs.

How you will utilise your expertise?

This international role will see you design, support the procurement, installation and commissioning of equipment for new and existing plasterboard manufacturing facilities worldwide.

  • You will lead the design development of fluids & powder handling processes to deliver best performance at lowest cost, giving due regard to safety, operability, maintainability and legal compliance.

  • Lead continuous improvement of process plant design.

  • Undertake feasibility studies, scope and develop concept designs and plant layouts, develop specifications and budget estimates for new capital projects.

  • Develop technical specifications for equipment tendering, negotiate and make recommendations on selection of suppliers and often in Eastern Europe or Asia.

  • Supervise safe installation and support equipment commissioning including training of Operations team on sites worldwide.

  • Be involved in extensive travel with extended periods away.

To be successful as the Lead Process Design Engineer, you will have:

  • Educated with a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (ideally Masters) with experience gained in a similar role.

  • Good command of specific design software i.e. AutoCAD, 3D design, etc.

  • Experience in design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of new equipment.

  • Track record of working in an automated process plant.

  • Ability to influence key senior stakeholders in the business

  • Ability to lead innovation and industrialise R&D developments.

  • Working globally, must understand cultural differences and be able to adapt behaviour and communications effectively using diversity for the common good of the company.

  • Willingness to travel globally for short and long periods e.g. up to 6 months
