British Gypsum is looking to appoint a Mine Engineering Manager to be based at their Robertsbridge site in East Sussex. This is an exciting time to join the business as British Gypsum have implemented a major capex expansion to access more than 20 years of new reserves to supply the factory at Robertsbridge.

What impact will I have in this role?

The Mine Engineering Manager will direct and manage engineering activities at the mine for optimal safety and production performance as least. The Mine Engineering Manager will be responsible for the delivery of Mine performance KPI’s with regards to Safety, Environment, CSI, Maintenance, Cost Control and People Development.

Your areas of responsibility will include:

  • Promotion of safety culture – compliance with regulations for plant equipment, amenities and surface buildings
  • Focused on TPM – ownership of PM pillar (EEM, breakdown, lubrication and spares/stores management
  • People development – to coach and develop the maintenance team capability to deliver and sustain improvements using the WCM tool set
  • Cost control to include preparation and submission of the Mine maintenance budget
  • Planning the engineering for the mine looking at equipment specs, electrical and mechanical design and installation, maintenance work, shutdown maintenance planning etc

  • A good understanding of the mining legislation, major hazards and statutory role at mines
  • Maintenance Planning/Engineering operations in leadership position at least 5 years (i.e. design, installation, commissioning, condition monitoring, shutdown planning)
  • Heavy duty equipment maintenance experience
  • WCM/TPM experience
  • Experience of managing a team of people and good influencing & communication skills
  • Safety Risk assessment process knowledge
  • Qualification in mechanical or electrical (high voltage operations) engineering at least HND
