This role is working with British Gypsum at our East Leake Works Plant which is part of the Saint-Gobain group, and the UK’s leading manufacturer of interior lining systems. Our mission is to develop innovative products and services that help customers build better spaces to live, work and play.

What impact will you have in this role?

In this role as Shift Manager you will you will Inspire the shift team to perform to their best ability, achieving optimum performance in all operational areas, and to follow the agreed business systems and standards so as to support the delivery of the plant annual plan. That will include;

  • Championing a culture that embraces high levels of proactive Health and Safety in all areas of the operation.
  • Being passionate about the business and actively contributing to continuous improvement, ensuring we stay as market leaders.
  • Taking pride in our production and manufacturing process as you maintain operational excellence to consistently deliver the highest quality products.
  • Facilitating an environment that encourages active involvement and contribution from team members at all levels and areas, giving them the scope to develop and progress.
  • Working a shift pattern of two day-shifts 7.00am – 7.00pm shifts, followed by two night-shifts 7.00pm – 7.00am shifts, and then having six days off.

What kind of person are we looking for? 

First and foremost, we always want to recruit talented people that align well with our values and way of working. In addition to the five Saint-Gobain attitudes we shared at the start, suitability for the role is always key – to perform well in this position you will;

  • Ideally come from a large scale automated operation in a continuous manufacturing site.
  • Be able to use SCADA (or similar system) to quickly understand the current state of the shift and identify areas needing attention.
  • Have lead, developed, and grown, diverse teams of approx. 18 on a shift basis. (ie Section Leaders, Operatives, Engineers, etc…)
  • Have a level of engineering understanding where you can manage technical aspects of the operation, understand root causes of issues, and effectively plan and implement contingencies to continue operations.
  • Able to effectively and quickly prioritise, using your team to deliver at pace
  • Be experienced working with Trade Unions.
  • Have a proven background in continuous improvement – ideally WCM (World Class management)
