How will you support us?

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mine Craft Operator - Electrical to join our passionate and highly motivated Barrow Mine. This exciting role will see you as part of a production unit with particular electrical responsibilities as well as driving on production all the Mine Production Machines.

 

In the role as a Mine Craft Operator - Electrical your duties involve;

 

  • Operating the underground equipment to a high standard alongside the mining and mechanical operatives as part of the production team, this includes the maintenance work.
  • Applying World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools and techniques to all aspects of the mine operation. These will include primarily and specifically Professional Maintenance on all the mine equipment.
  • Comprehensive training will be given to achieve competence in these duties. 
  • Exposure to ongoing WCM methodology, consequently personal development is guaranteed. 
  • The majority of your duties will be to integrate into the production team and operate the underground equipment alongside the mining and mechanical operatives.

For the Mine Craft Operator - Electrical specifically it is important that you have:

 

  • Undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship and would ideally have an HNC or equivalent.
  • Experience of LV and HV systems and associated Permits to Work would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of PLC and SCADA control systems would be helpful.
  • Experience of participation in continuous improvement projects.
  • Must be willing to work shifts including nights.  A flexible and willing approach to working hours and deployment is absolutely essential.
  • Coming from a mining background would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Trained and competent with requirements of the Electricity at Work regulations, the 17th Edition Regulations and the Use of Electricity in Mines would be ideal.
