How will you support us?

 

This role is working in the Project Engineering Department (PED) of British Gypsum, where you will be responsible for managing and engineering projects for a major part of the capital expenditure of the business.  Based at Kirkby Thore, in Cumbria, we want someone to work with the plant manager and his team, along with the central project engineering team, to agree priorities, resource and programmes for capital investment within the factory, and then oversee the successful execution of these project.

 

In the role as Project Leader you will:

 

  • Be  the focal point at the Kirkby Thore site for the delivery of capital  investment projects
  • Work with the local site management and engineers, as well as your engineering colleagues based in East Leake (Nottinghamshire),  to plan and agree the scope and timelines of projects
  • Oversee and manage agreed projects through all phases, from inception to implementation and commissioning
  • Manage the site installation, being especially focused on the safe implementation of the project and control of sub-contractors.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have;

 

  • Be focused on safety and be able to demonstrate an understanding of safe working practices and ensuring these are followed
  • Project Management experience in an industrial setting, with an understanding of CDM regulations and site construction.
  • Demonstrable organisational ability at overseeing and running projects of a variety of sizes (from £100k to £5m+)
  • Worked with a dynamic range of people on site, from senior managers to sub-contract labour
  • Good communication skills, you will be able to communicate effectively with the team on site but also the project team that is based in East Leake.
  • Preferably from an engineering background (Mechanical, Electrical or Process)
  • A degree in an appropriate subject or substantial equivalent experience.
