You would be part of a team responsible for provision and delivery of mining engineering activities, supporting our underground drill and blast, continuous miner and surface mining operations.

 

How you will utilise your expertise?

 

This role is working with British Gypsum where you will be responsible in providing technical assistance to the central multidisciplinary team and local mine management on health, safety, geotechnical, competency & World Class Manufacturing (WCM). You will assist in the production of plans for the efficient operation of the Company’s Mines and Quarries, including the planning of new developments, selection and specifications of new equipment.

 

In the role as a Mining Engineer you will;

 

  • Revise mine design documents and development plans to ensure mines are worked efficiently and maximise use of resources.

  • Cost and evaluate mining options and manage mining and engineering projects and contractors as required.

  • Assist in the development of Company mechanical and electrical specifications for plant and equipment.

  • Provide technical assistance on safety, health, mine environment, geotechnical and engineering issues.

  • Investigate and develop potential productivity improvements and conduct trials as appropriate.

  • Assist the team with representing Company interests on HSE legislative committees and working groups formulating and commenting on new legislation. Liaise with HMI and Mine Managers on H&S issues to develop consistent improvements in safety standards and compliance.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have;

 

  • A BSc and/or MSc degree in Mining Engineering

  • Experience working in underground mining

  • Technical competence in a range of mining disciplines with an aptitude to solve problems

  • Excellent all round communications skills and a high level of computer literacy.

  • As travel throughout the UK is needed in this role, a full driving licence is required.

 

For this role, it would be great if you have

 

  • Geotechnical experience
