Who are we ?

This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Mining Engineer to join our Geological & Mining Services team. This role will see you develop your technical skills in a wide variety of support activities, including surveying; mine planning; mineral assay and mining engineering. You will be using many of the technical skills you have learnt at university, and applying them to current projects. You will be gaining experience towards a future role in Mine Management in our mining operations.

The Geological & Mining Services team comprises of 17 professional mining engineers; surveyors; geology specialists and other graduate engineers. 

What will you be doing in the role?

This team supports five underground mines and one opencast mine in the UK and mining operations in Ireland. Our primary objective is to ensure that the mining operations are planned and operated to achieve the highest possible levels of safety.

The key departmental accountabilities are:

  • Drive a safe and sustainable environment
  • Creating a culture that supports continual development of credible experts
  • Using insight to understand and exceed customer expectations
  • Continuously driving operational excellence
  • Getting involved, bringing passion and excitement

You will become fully involved in delivering the above

For a Graduate Mining Engineer specifically it is important that you:

  • Have a degree in Mining Engineering or Minerals Engineering
  • Can identify and communicate potential process improvements
  • Can collect and organise data to create accurate reports
  • Can solve problems effectively using clear, logical processes

Experience in an extractive industry would be useful.
