Warehouse Operative – Full Time Permanent – Shift Pattern: Days and Nights, occasional weekends.


Based at Robertsbridge, East Sussex


Due to internal promotion a vacancy has now become available for a Warehouse Operative within the Operations Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Forklift Truck operator to join our passionate and knowledgeable Warehouse Team as a Warehouse Operative. This role will see you working within a shift pattern to ensure that we fulfil our promise to provide the best service possible to our customers through accurate and safe loading of palletised orders, utilising your skills obtained through a background in warehouse loading and your forklift truck experience.

In addition to ensuring that deliveries to our customers are both accurate and on time, you will be responsible for the offloading and storage of incoming materials and for maintaining the stock rows and standards within the warehouse. There is also the requirement to take an active role in improvement projects to maintain and advance our high standards of safety and quality.

What will you be doing in the role?

As a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the Warehouse Team you shall be responsible for the offloading and loading of all materials and goods while adhering to and promoting both the Saint-Gobain attitudes and the British Gypsum principles of conduct.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities are:

  • Maintain and promote safe working standards with an absolute commitment to your own and others’ safety.
  • Work to ensure that all orders are loaded for on-time deliveries with the correct products and zero damage.
  • Support the Warehouse Section Leaders with continuous improvement projects.
  • Learn how to support the Metal Operatives with the picking and loading of metal products.
  • Support the Inventory Control team with the day-to-day management of stock levels and maintaining stock rows and locations.

  • A valid FLT licence with relevant experience.
  • Experience in delivering high levels of service, ideally within a warehouse environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word / Excel.
  • The potential and desire to progress within the Warehouse Team towards Section Leader level.
