Position description

We have a great opportunity for Warehouse Operative to join us at British Gypsum in East Leake, Loughborough. You will provide the best possible service to our customers, whilst preparing metal orders and loading customers’ orders in a safe and controlled manner. You’ll also carry out many associated tasks that support the activity of meeting the customer demands and supplying orders loaded with the correct products, with zero quality defects so they can be delivered on time, with zero damage following the site procedures.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Comply with site procedures, be involved with the foundations of safety and assist with safety improvements;
    • Following site procedures.
    • Reporting safety concerns.
    • Assessing non-standard tasks.
    • Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
    • Complying with mobile plant protocols.
    • Assisting with reviews of Risk Assessments and Operating Procedures

Team Performance

  • Working within a team and as an individual to successfully contribute towards the productivity outputs required of the shift within a safe environment.
    • Ensuring that their shift output is as high as possible.
    • Being flexible within the role and being multi skilled.
    • Taking ownership of their activity.

Customer Focus

  • Is an integral part of customer service by;
    • Ensuring any activity that is completed is accurate.
    • Ensuring that all work that is required is timely in its completion.
    • Ensuring that only quality items are received by the customer.
    • Ensuring that no damaged products get to the customer.

Effective Communication

  • Uses regular communication with key stakeholders to include logistics team, production, engineering and external haulier to ensure the smooth running of the warehouse, logistics function and plant. Key features are;
    • Regular feedback of any issues and shift progress with the Section Leader and/or Despatch Leader where necessary.
    • Liaising with the production take off teams when required.
    • Effective communication with the transport function, including the Loading Bay Operatives, Shunters and Bay planners when required

What we’re looking for in a Warehouse Operative:

  • Experience of working in a fast moving Warehouse environment.
  • Experienced in the use us mobile plant such as an FLT.
  • Competent PC skills
  • FLT license (held for at least 2 years) - Desirable
  • Safety related qualifications – Desirable
  • Good standard of general education, literate and numerate
