Who are we ?

Location: Ware, Hertfordshire

We have a great opportunity for a Quality Assurance Analytical Technician to join us at Farecla. You will provide support to the Technical department and Company as a whole to ensure quality standards are achieved and continually improved. As a Quality Assurance Analytical Technician, you’ll be required to provide analysis to support all areas of the technical department including, research and development, formulation and application testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test the quality of incoming raw materials and finished goods across all areas of the business. 
  • Maintain written and computerised test data, and the storage of retained samples. 
  • Perform routine analysis using the following equipment:
    • Hitachi TM3030 Scanning electron microscope with Quorum Technologies QR150R rotary pumped gold sputter coater.
    • Malvern Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction particle size analyser with Hydro EV wet dispersion unit and custom-built recirculating heating loop.
    • Malvern Zetasizer Nano-Z zeta potential analyser with MPT2 Autotitrator and degasser and various accessory cells.
    • Mettler-Toldeo TGA, DSC 3+ thermogravimetric analyser and differential scanning calorimeter.
    • Micrometrics Tristar II 3030 plus Surface area analyser.
  • Assist in centralising formulas and test data, technical data sheets etc.
  • Write standard operating procedures, (SOPs) where necessary and when required for the Technical Department.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations and recording findings.
  • Ownership of incident reports including training production area leaders, providing ongoing support and continually looking for ways to improve procedures.
  • Write internal and external technical reports when required, as well as Standard operating procedures ‘SOPs’ for operating analytical equipment and make improvements to existing SOPs.
  • Maintain active service contracts for all five pieces of primary analysis equipment with relevant suppliers and liaise with technicians for maintenance/calibration visits.
  • Regularly monitoring stock levels of consumables required for operation of analytical equipment and sample preparation.
  • Maintain a centralised electronic library of analytical data, reference information and manuals relating to our analytical equipment and best practice.

What we’re looking for in a Quality Assurance Analytical Technician:

  • Qualification in chemistry and/or experience working in a chemical environment.
  • Quality testing and Data analysis experience.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Experience in report writing and standard operating procedure.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety standards and procedures.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Be flexible, adaptable and proactive in your approach to tasks given.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
