Quality Engineer – Saint Gobain – Isover

Runcorn, Cheshire

This vacancy is working for Isover - part of the Saint-Gobain group, producing glass wool insulation. Isover manufacture environmentally sustainable glass mineral wool insulation for thermal, acoustic and fire safe solutions. We develop sustainable insulation solutions to protect both your built environment and the natural environment. Isover insulation warms and protects 1 in 3 homes in Europe and 1 in 5 in America.

As the site Quality Engineer you will be a customer ambassador ensuring they receive the highest quality products by driving operational quality and conformity from raw materials through to manufacturing processes and finished products.  Working with site quality control, manufacturing operations and from QA data you will investigate all issues or none conformities and problem solve in all areas of production and material management, utilising problem solving tools and processes.  The role will also see you supporting NPD activities with all associated quality assurance and product testing.

This role is very much focussed upon manufacturing operations.  You will be a customer ambassador, identifying areas of risk or production issues and resolving them through the application of your recognised problem solving skills and solution implementation. 

Activities in the role will include:

  • Investigating non conformities and issues across raw material and production.
  • Identify, investigate and provide solutions to risks in production that impact quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities, working with manufacturing teams to influence and effect change where needed.
  • Supporting new product development from a QE perspective.
  • Maintenance of QA documentation.
  • Supporting site audits.
  • Investigating customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.

Required Skills

  • Experience of QA audits.
  • Experience of problem solving using QA tools (FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa, 5Y, statistical Analysis, Minitab or similar).
  • Experience of data driven Quality Engineering using Minitab or similar.
  • Experience of fast paced quality driven product manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience of continuous improvement activities, formal training would be an advantage e.g six sigma.
  • Formal academic qualifications in an Engineering or Science discipline
  • Excellent communicator at all levels.
  • Competent in Microsoft applications.
