Note: this role is home-based, so location is not the primary recruiting factor. However, it would make sense for the successful candidate to live in or within commutable distance of our business units (Glasgow/Edinburgh/Central Scotland or North East England).


Trading Implementation Manager

Jewson are looking for a proactive and dedicated Trading Implementation Manager to join us in the North East of England and Scotland.

The role covers over 90 branches across Scotland, the North East of England and Lake District – a very diverse territory where every location has it’s unique opportunities and challenges. This role is a great opportunity to work closely with the Regional Commercial Director, Stock Optimisation Manager, Regional Operations, Category and central functions to deliver Local and National initiatives where you will see tangible results quickly as a results of your efforts. Such initiatives include successful implementation of the core stock range, merchandising & briefing of promotions and reviewing local ranges within the national framework. This role with give great exposure to many areas of the business including Category, Marketing, Finance by leading many cross functional projects.


What you’ll be doing as a Trading Implementation Manager:

  • You’ll have 4 key areas of responsibility;
    • Implement Category Initiatives within the Region e.g. New Product Introduction; Obsolete Product Removal; Buy-ins; Price activity
    • Implement Range reviews and updates e.g. Core Ranges; Extended Ranges; Specialisms
    • Merchandising in-branch e.g. preparation and communication of briefing notes; follow up and support for branches; audit/ management of compliance
    • Implementation of Promotional activity e.g. Marketing Calendar; Pallet deals
  • Analyse and report on instances of range review variation from plan, eliminate the variation and identify and communicate recommendations to reduce or remove the likelihood and/or impact of future deviations/ non-compliance
  • Support the successful implementation of any relevant business initiatives regarding specialisms, promotions, and new ranges
  • Be the primary communicator with BUDs and Branch colleagues on the deployment and implementation of the 4 key areas of responsibility
  • Implement the product / stock flow with the Branch Manager, improving their competence of this activity and enabling them to become self-sufficient / proficient
  • Provide feedback to the Regional Commercial Director around the plans and their fit / relevance to customer requirements
  • Ensure that the flow is common across the Business Unit / Region, so that customers have a similar experience in each branch

What we’re looking for:

  • Project leadership experience
  • Understanding of Jewson business and operations
  • Commercial knowledge, especially the financial implication of decisions on profitability
  • Relevant market and product knowledge
  • Understanding of auditing tools and techniques
  • Excellent communicating and influencing skills, and the ability to positive and constructively challenge and coach
  • Able to manage large amounts of complex data
  • Able to develop and implement effective working relationships
  • Focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with ability to assimilate information
  • Highly IT literate with expertise in Excel
  • Knowledge of risk management
  • Full Clean driving license as travel is required
