Role - Sales Engineer

You’ll be working for Saint-Gobain Industrial Ceramics, part of the Performance Ceramics and Refractories (PCR) division which is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and is a worldwide market leader in ceramic solutions. The company manufactures a variety of refractory products and materials for worldwide applications in metallurgical processing, high temperature processing, chemical, temperature and abrasion resistant applications.

You will focus on satisfying our customer demand for our products and services by selling solutions, levering technical superiority & securing sales for products and services predominantly within the Waste to Energy & Foundry markets.


There are some specific behaviours and experience we are looking for from suitable candidates;

  • You will have a real passion for technical sales and business development with technical products and processes. We are experiencing a huge period of growth within the PCR business and this new role will play a key part in continuing that success.
  • It would be a real positive if you had experience in Ceramics and / or Refractories and ideally you will be degree educated (or similar level qualification) having specialised in a Science based, Engineering, Metallurgy or similar related subject.
  • With great commercial awareness, you will have strong communication and negotiation skills coupled with a technical and inquisitive thought process in order to build your network of prospective customers.
  • You will enjoy travel and be open to spending occasional nights away from home. Whilst this is a home office based role it does have full UK coverage.

Additional Requirements

What will I be doing in the role?

Our Sales Engineer role is new role to the PCR business and we see this as a key driver to our continued sales development and growth. Your main responsibilities and challenging activities will see you;

  • Developing new sales and business opportunities from our existing and prospective customer base in order to deliver profitable sales in each market sector.
  • Working alongside and consulting our European PCR teams, you will obtain insight and feedback from customers about new and future solutions and opportunities for our products and services including national & global projects. There will be the opportunity to visit our European PCR sites to build your network and develop your product understanding.
  • You will coordinate and evaluate product trials, fully documenting results and consulting with global teams to ensure that all appropriate information is reported.
  • You will provide clear price and margin management in accounts, following guidelines regarding price and discount / rebate terms for accounts and major projects, and undertake and negotiate price increases as per company policy by market.
