Field Sales Representative - International Decorative Surfaces (IDS)

We are looking for an experienced, customer focused Sales Representative to support our IDS Norwich team. This is a field based role with regular travel requirements, focused on nurturing an existing customer base, as well as seeking new business opportunities.

IDS are the UK's largest distributor of surfacing materials, specialising in flooring, worktops, laminates, panel products and solid surfacing. So if you think you can maintain a leading reputation, this may just be the role for you!

As a Field Sales Representative with IDS, you will

  • Identify key accounts and build strong relationships with customers, providing an excellent standard of ongoing customer care.
  • Plan territory visits to ensure customers are contacted regularly and comfortably
  • Be proactive and assertive in seeking new business and re-activating dormant accounts.
  • Negotiate sales deals that will achieve budgeted margins and which conform to the Company’s sales policies.
  • Report activity levels within the territory to the Branch Manager on a daily basis.
  • Gather competitor and customer information and report weekly on general market activity to the Branch Manager.
  • Use our “ Sales I “ IT reporting system to help manage, develop and achieve sales budgets whilst updating and maintaining relevant market and customer information.

So if you have…

  • Demonstrable strong experience within a sales role, with the ability to make an immediate impact.
  • A full UK driving license (essential due to regular travel requirements).
  • Experience within the merchanting industry or another relevant sector (desirable, though the right attitude and personality are key).
  • The ability to engage with stakeholders at any level, from MD to the shop floor.
  • A hardworking and hungry attitude – you need to want to sell.
  • A resilient character, able to overcome setbacks and continue with enthusiasm.
  • Strong analytical and IT skills.
