Business Development Executive – Gibbs & Dandy: Builders' Merchants - Eastbourne, East Sussex

We have an excellent opportunity for a passionate and motivated Business Development Executive to join our team here at Gibbs & Dandy Eastbourne.

Reporting into the Director of Sales, this role will involve continuously managing and developing a profitable business relationship between the company and its core account customers to exceed budgeted sales, whilst achieving organic sales growth within the local market covered.

As a Business Development Executive with Gibbs & Dandy, you will:

  • Identify and secure new/development customer accounts in the geographical area covered to ensure ongoing sales/target achievement.
  • Manage the performance (sales and margin) of customers, to ensure that targets are achieved.
  • Develop organic sales through monitoring of customer spend patterns to realise new product opportunities, including regular joint supplier customer visits.
  • Ensure knowledge of market trends, competitor activity and supplier performance is up to date at all times.
  • Utilise the range of product “specialists”, central functions, and key supplier support to ensure all customers are familiar with the total G&D product offering.
  • Promote and utilise the support available from Central and Branch functions to achieve the highest levels of customer service.
  • Establish an effective Journey Plan to ensure maximum “face to face” selling time and organised customer coverage.
  • Work closely with the managers and staff at the link branch, providing regular updates to the manager.

  • Have proven experience of working within a sales role - preferred.
  • Can demonstrate excellent prospecting skills.
  • Have experience of customer relationship management - essential.
  • Are a proven team player, with the ability to work on own initiative when required.
  • Have proven planning, organisation and time management skills.
  • Are able to manage change positively and proactively.
  • Hold a clean driving licence, as travel is essential in the role.
