You’ll be working for International Decorative Surfaces in Morley, Leeds. IDS is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK. International Decorative Surfaces are the UK’s largest distributor of decorative surfaces specialising in flooring, worktops, laminates, compact, panel products, solid surface and wall panelling. With an annual turnover of more than £120 million we take the business of fulfilling our customers’ needs very seriously. We make more than 2,000 daily deliveries using our fleet of over 100 vehicles achieving a 99% on-time, in-full, service record.

Truly acting as an entrepreneur you will be proactive, taking time to understand your customers. You’ll also show resilience when things don’t go according to plan; being open to new ideas and happy to learn.

There are some specific skills and experience we are looking for from suitable candidates;

  • Product knowledge of laminates, worktops, flooring, solid surfaces or panel products would be ideal but not essential
  • Previous sales experience is ideal
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Driving Licence and willingness to undertake extensive travel – approx. 150mile radius

What will I be doing in the role?

Our Field Sales Representatives are an important contributor to the performance of the business and to ensure our customers have a positive experience with us. To support our customers effectively you will;

  • Identify key accounts and build strong relationships with those customers, providing an excellent standard of ongoing customer care
  • Plan territory visits to ensure that customers are contacted at the required frequency
  • Be proactive and assertive in seeking new business and re-activating dormant accounts
  • Negotiate sales deals that will achieve budgeted margins and which conform to the Company’s sales policies
  • Report activity levels within the territory to the Branch Manager on a daily basis
  • Gather competitor and customer information and report weekly on general market activity to the Branch Manager
  • Using the IT reporting system “Sales I“ to help manage, develop and achieve sales budgets whilst updating and maintaining relevant market and customer information
