Public Sector Sales Account Manager – Home Based (covering the South West regions with UK travel)

We're looking for a dedicated individual to maximise business performance across the South West Regions through effective and professional account management, ensuring continuous sales, profit growth and retention of business.

You'll be tasked with generating new business opportunities within the Sector, effectively and professionally targeting customers to establish and develop business relationships with key customer personnel. You'll also need to prepare professional, compelling supply contract tender submissions that leverage the strength of Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland.

Please note, this is a Home-Based role with regular regional travel requirements within the South West of England. As such, a full valid UK driving license is essential.

What will I be doing in the role?

As a Public Sector Sales Account Manager with Saint-Gobain, you will:

  • Implement national sales strategies in respect of designated remit, as directed by the Regional Sector Sales Manager and Sector Director.
  • Manage, develop and retain a portfolio of customer accounts within the designated area.
  • Support the development of new customers led by other Sales Managers (SM) when required, ensuring feedback is provided to the SM in each of these instances.
  • Take responsibility for delivering performance targets for designated territory/customer portfolios.
  • Negotiate service level agreements with nominated customers and ensure the business can meet these agreements, i.e. ensure supply chain solutions etc. are in place, on behalf of SGBD as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with all customers at all levels necessary to develop and retain business.
  • Liaise and work with Credit Control on resolving credit queries on all allocated accounts.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across SGBD companies to ensure customers are aware of all relevant products.
  • Complete on time and in full company sales reporting procedures, as instructed by the Regional Sector Sales Manager and Sector Director, or as outlined within the KPI / minimum standard criteria.

So if you have...

  • Previous business development and sales account management experience, ideally gained within a builders merchant/retail/multi-site distributor, with the proven ability to exceed personal targets.
  • The ability to build and manage customer relationship with ease.
  • Strong negotiation and facilitation skills - ‘ability to make things happen’ - without direct authority.
  • A full valid UK driving license - essential.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to interpret reports and have a good understanding of budgets, forecasting and tracking customer spend and activity.
  • Previous experience of working with all aspects of sales, e-business, e-procurement is preferred.
